As you are well aware the state of the economy has hurt us all over the past two years. They tell us that things are starting to turn around and that we are now in a period of recovery. It is my feeling that it will take a long time before the effects of this recovery are felt by us and our campers. In the tuff times we live in funds become tight for all of us we all need to cut back and watch every penny. We have found that recreation is one of the first things that we have to put on the back burner if we are to weather the storm that we are in. Because we feel that our campers are part of our extended family for the last three years we have kept our prices the same in an effort to help all of us continue to camp. Over the last two years it has been tuff but we have been holding our own. We to have had to cut back on things in order to continue to operate with the decrease in revenue.

Over the last year we spent a lot of time effort and energy exploring all of our options. After careful consideration and much thought we have come up with a plan that we feel will enable us to position the campground for the future and more importantly get us through our current economic situation. It is with much joy and great excitement that Pam and I announce that we will be joining the KOA family. Sterling Park Campground will become Sterling KOA. Over the past 5 years we have been approached by KOA (Kampgrounds Of America) on three different occasions. KOA has told us that we are a perfect fit for their organization and that they would like us to join their family. Currently there is only one other KOA in the state of Connecticut and that is a KOA owned campground. We will be the first and currently the only Franchise KOA in CT. By converting to a KOA our vacation/weekend revenue will greatly increase this is because of the KOA national branding and more importantly through the power of there vast advertising budget. As a small family owned campground we can not come close to matching the advertising and support that KOA will bring to Sterling.

Pam and I would like to assure you that with the exception of some structural and operational changes we will continue to manage the campground as we always have. We are not taking on a partner nor are we selling the campground we will continue to own and operate the campground. We would also like to state that KOA does not set campground policy or rates. We do and as always we have your best interest at heart. We can not stress enough that this is a positive move for us, you and the campground. Between now and the time we open you will see the campground transform from Sterling Park to Sterling KOA. We will be working on the rest rooms, painting the buildings, adding a dog park, installing a jumping pillow along with new signage more store items and yes the snack shack and store will be open on a regular basis. KOA is in the process of designing our web page on www.koa.com. We will also have a new 800 number for on line reservations we will let you know when they are up and running. Other upgrades and improvements will be taking place as part of this process. This change will allow us to continue to survive be competitive and grow in this difficult economy.
